Glamour Farms - Elizabeth Patridge - Louisville, IL

Social media - Niche marketing – Small business start up

Our week started off with great motivation as Elizabeth Patridge from Glamour Farms joined Jasper CEO. Glamour Farms, a ladies clothing boutique owned by Pam Garrett, Stephanie Harrison, and Elizabeth (mother and daughters) started a year ago in October when Elizabeth’s mother decided they had talked about the venture long enough, and it was time to start taking action. From that point on, these three ladies have learned what it takes to start a business from literally nothing to a high grossing clothing boutique with a store front, and rapid on-line sales through social media, in less than a year. This business shows no signs of slowing as their original idea of an on-line store starts to hit the ground shortly after the first of the year. She discussed the process of how the business has been formed as well as many business concepts with Jasper CEO students, but really focused on the concepts of impeccable customer service , target marketing and the power of social media.

Louis Ochs Chevrolet Buick - Louis Ochs and Gail Garbe

Owning a maintaining dealership status.

There is so much to be learned from family businesses right here in the heart of Jasper County! Louis Ochs worked for 20+ years for Al Rohr at his Chevrolet Dealership and then purchased it for his family in 1983. Louis, along with his daughter Gail, discussed the family business history with Jasper CEO students. Again, this family business attributes its success to outstanding customer service along with giving back to the community, not to get anything in return but in thanks and because it is the right thing to do. We gained an immense amount of information about how the dealership works in its entirety and the quality of parts, service and sales that it takes to be a Chevrolet dealer.

Coffee and Doughnuts with Mentors

Development Connections and Networking through professional relationships.

As stated in previous newsletters, the purpose of our mentor program is to connect students with business people in the community in order to build professional relationships with not only our mentors, but also their connections and the other student’s mentors as well. The theory behind this stands that by creating networks of people at this young age, our students will have a foundation of business knowledge and connections throughout their business endeavors, wherever they go. The ultimate goal of CEO is that we are planting the seeds of tomorrow’s economic development today through these young people as they may stay or someday return to Jasper County.

Get Involved in CEO

The manner in which the CEO program is funded is critical to its success and sustainability. All funds raised are used exclusively for the Jasper County CEO program. To participate, a 3-year $1000 per year commitment is required. Business Partner Investors commitments of time and energy are also critical to the program's success. Contributions may be tax deductible, as our organization is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.

When we are not touring local businesses, we need a place to host the class. During that time, the 0 CEO students and their Facilitator would meet at your site where they would also have guest speakers and guests from the community attend. Hosting requires a facility with internet access and adequately accommodates up to 5 people.

We are looking for people to share real-life stories about the concepts of running a business, from strategic thinking, product development to marketing, and cash flow management. Also, sharing your personal successes and failures are what recent classes have enjoyed the most.
