Cheryl Mitchell with Midland Institute for Entrepreneurship

Cheryl Mitchell from Midland Institute from Entrepreneurship met with Jasper CEO students on Tuesday. Not only was this an acquaintance section for both Cheryl and the students but it was also a great opportunity for CEO’s to learn more about how the Midland Institute serves the CEO communities, boards and facilitators in a comprehensive mission to make CEO a success in every community. It was a great day that allowed us all an opportunity to get to know the Interim Executive Director for Midland Institute and our own hometown girl, Cheryl (Bierman) Mitchell.

Pyramid Marble & Granite

Jasper CEO student found themselves in Effingham on Wednesday morning with Barry Brandt, owner of Pyramid Marble & Granite. Also joining us from the Pyramid team were Vicki Wakefield and Katie Duncan. Barry was kind enough to share with us his non-linear path to success, a summary of his multiple business adventures, and many of his business success tips. One of these included, “Money isn’t happiness, success is happiness. You can’t focus and set your goals only based on money. Life is more than that.” We also enjoyed a great conversation about competitors versus business allies, a concept not discussed yet in CEO. After meeting with Barry in the beautiful showroom, we were given a tour of the facilities were the marble and granite are process and prepared for installation. It was an informative day and we are very thankful to Pyramid for extending an invitation to us!

Mentor Dinner at Joe's Italian Foods in Newton

Upon the request of CEO students, the Jasper CEO Board sponsored a mentor dinner on Wednesday in order for mentors and proteges to better get to know each other. This event was held at Joe’s Italian Foods in Newton. Lisa Teichmiller, Network Developer, from Effingham CEO was our guest speaker for the evening. Lisa offered several tidbits of information to both mentors and proteges on how to make their mentoring relationship the best it could be. The food was delicious and the company was fantastic! This will definitely be a tradition we will keep as we continue to develop our CEO program. The Jasper CEO students would like to thank the Jasper CEO board, the Cucinella family and all of the mentors that were able to attend. It was a wonderful evening!

Lucas Wenthe - Intellectual Property Attorney

Thursday was a unique experience for Jasper CEO’s. We had the great pleasure of meeting with Lucas Wenthe, Intellectual Property Attorney for Bounutti Industries. In an enlightening and entertaining day we discovered the four types of intellectual property: copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets. Lucas’ approach to the topics was excellent including humor, case studies, comparisons, and lots of what-if’s. It was a highly engaged morning that none of the CEO’s are soon to forget. They loved it!!

When we are not touring local businesses, we need a place to host the class. During that time, the 0 CEO students and their Facilitator would meet at your site where they would also have guest speakers and guests from the community attend. Hosting requires a facility with internet access and adequately accommodates up to 5 people.

We are looking for people to share real-life stories about the concepts of running a business, from strategic thinking, product development to marketing, and cash flow management. Also, sharing your personal successes and failures are what recent classes have enjoyed the most.
