CEO Business Visits

CEO Guest Speakers

CEO students need YOUR help!

Please take 15 seconds out of your day to help our CEO students by answering this ONE question:

Class Day

Our class days generally consist of a candid discussion and reflection of the previous business visits and guest speakers. It includes the concepts were learned, the people we met, and the overall business climate we experienced.  This is usually followed by listening to a chapter of Craig Lindvahl's book and then we discuss it and how that concept is now or will soon impact our lives. Then, down to work we go as we pick back up discussing any unfinished business from the planning of our class business and upcoming Investor Social on Friday, October 14th. All Jasper CEO investors are invited to attend.

Your Life Toolbox!

Karen Wolters

Karen Wolters, successful business women from Effingham, IL and former owner of Contigo coffee cups, joined Effingham and Jasper CEO on Wednesday morning in the Leadership Room at EJ Water in Dieterich, IL to discuss the Toolbox of Life. It was a huge swing of fate that took this business owner’s manufacturing opportunity from grimm to glory upon a return to Taiwan following her husband’s career. Inside of Karen’s message we learn that we really do live in a global society today making our world very small and that we should expand our minds to that scale when doing business. The most important tool in the toolbox of life that Karen emphasized was “integrity” and how each student should respect and care for their own and others around them. She ended reminding students that with the special opportunity CEO offers also comes great responsibility to uphold the brand and create the wow everyday!

Beck's Hybrids

Sonny Beck

On Thursday Jasper CEO had the opportunity to travel along with NCHS’s BSAA class to Atlanta, Indiana and visit the nation's largest family owned retail seed business, Beck’s Hybrids. We learned about the company, the culture, and seed genetics. We also had the opportunity to experience processing seed corn which only happens for about six weeks out of the entire year. Together we explored their entire facility including the genetics lab and had the opportunity to meet owner Sonny Beck to learn more about the family business. Beck’s follows some very simple rules and values. The platinum rule, “Treat the customer the way they want to be treated”. He also offered student the advice of, “find out what you do well and do more of it”. Their concept of family has served them well in the industry as he discussed much about the growing culture and the need to continue to feel small. He ended with passing along, “Everybody’s ship rises when the tide rises.”

Get Involved in CEO

The manner in which the CEO program is funded is critical to its success and sustainability. All funds raised are used exclusively for the Jasper County CEO program. To participate, a 3-year $1000 per year commitment is required. Business Partner Investors commitments of time and energy are also critical to the program's success. Contributions may be tax deductible, as our organization is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization.

When we are not touring local businesses, we need a place to host the class. During that time, the 0 CEO students and their Facilitator would meet at your site where they would also have guest speakers and guests from the community attend. Hosting requires a facility with internet access and adequately accommodates up to 5 people.

We are looking for people to share real-life stories about the concepts of running a business, from strategic thinking, product development to marketing, and cash flow management. Also, sharing your personal successes and failures are what recent classes have enjoyed the most.

If you are interested in participating in any of the above programs, use our contact form to send us a message
